Cranky you, cranky me. Cranky river, cranky trees. They blame it on us, I blame it on our messed up psychology. It is said psychology is the science of studying mental processes, behaviour and experiences in different contexts. Our experiences shape our behavior and various mental processes such as memory, perceiving and thinking that includes how we reason and how we imagine as well.
It is funny how we do not realize that every experience we go through ever since we were born gets stored in our memory without us even being aware of its presence. And these memories present in the unconscious as we call it, affect every decision we make in our day-to-day lives. This is what psychology says. And then we have our own ideologies and connotations. It is human nature, I would say, to not understand things in terms of what they are intended to mean and modify and exaggerate or belittle someone else’s thoughts. It comes from experiences, good and bad, all our opinions, the way we think. It is easier to say I had a rough past and try to get away with whatever unacceptable behaviour we demonstrate time and again.
How many of us actually try to dig deep and deeper. Do we? Probably not. Like I said, we choose the easy way out! But somehow, that’s not enough. Dwelling in the past has never done anyone much good. What we should maybe do is not question why did this happen to me but rather why did this happen at all! We are but just puppets aren’t we? It is all in the mind. Puppets or not, submissive or authoritative, social or antisocial, caring or indifferent. As living beings we are predisposed to care and concern. That is why it is not just man/woman who want to protect their child, this feeling or the need to protect one’s own is present in animals as well.
Animals. Dangerous. Unpredictable. Selfish. Un-trained. I could go on and on with such words that we associate with animals, because they are “animals”. Having lived with one for a while now I honestly don’t see much difference between man and an animal. Except that my understanding of animal nature might have changed quite a bit. No it is not because I have a dog and dogs can be trained and they are domestic. Have you met a street dog?! Have you wondered they don’t care if you are around them unless you do something to make them aware of your existence ( doing something other than walking away!). You would be surprised how he/she actually don’t care. No they don’t trust me. Much like the people around you. Take a hint. Stop making everything about you!!
We victimize ourselves, paint ourselves a sorry picture thinking we are weak and it was meant to happen. It was not meant to happen. You are an adult. Take charge of your life. No one else can make changes in your life except you yourself. Maybe you didn’t care enough or maybe you didn’t care at all about something. Such things are a passing phase which are unavoidable but irrelevant in the long-term. My concern is things that are relevant. You. If there’s one thing constant in life apart from change, it is “You”.
So as experiences vary, our behaviour changes as well. We think differently, our interests change, everything around us changes on a regular basis. Then why are we stuck! Opportunities come and go, you can take it or leave it, you can let your past pile up on you or you can break-free, loosen the grip, and create your own future, create a new life, walk straight up into the…
