WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO?

When we were kids we used to have big goals for ourselves. For some of us it was to become an astronaut when we become “Big”, while for some it was to win the weekend football match, some of us felt we were super powerful if we could dress up like our amazing and gorgeous mommies and some just wanted to grab another burger. It is strange and funny at the same time, how people of the same age group who haven’t seen the world yet think so differently, how happiness could range from just a simple french fry to wearing mom’s sari for a school function to getting a geared bicycle.

We all are wired differently. Even though we live in the same world, have a common group of friends, share this common and deep love for food, watch the same shows, work in the same office, shop from the same places, we are different, we are unique. You might have similar views on a topic and yet be poles apart from someone while considering the parameters when it comes to making decisions. When you come to think of it, is it really the same world? Yes we all are aware of the same realities, have similar qualifications, develop common interests, but do we want what everyone else wants or are we free from that and have our treasured dreams that are only ours?

I think we all do have our treasured dreams. The degree of urgency to live those dreams might vary from one individual to another. We have our priorities in place already, whether we realize it or not. It is that tiny little voice inside our head that is trying to break-free and tell us what could impact us forever and what is just a passing phase and we could get over it eventually. Sure we do not know what the future holds for us, how circumstances will change and how we will change but should that be what guides us or should it be who we are right now, at this point of time in life.

Let’s say our life is divided into chapters. There is a beginning and there will be an end. Those two things aren’t in our hands. We have a little influence on the initial chapters. And the rest, it is in our control. It is true that we do what we want to do. Our life is full of choices and decisions for us to make. What you decide is your choice, your decision, doesn’t matter what made you make that decision, it was your’s and you should own it! Whether it was right for you or a mistake, whether it makes you feel happy or disappointed, that is just something you have to live with, because now you are “Big”.

This is when you actually realize what it is to be a grown up. Making decisions for yourself (It is never about paying your bills!).Decisions that shape your life, that help you create yourself, decisions that turn your life around and the sooner we assume this responsibility the better. You’ll mess up when you start, but you will get better with time. It was never about where and how you started. It is about where you want to go and how you plan on getting there! So…

Where do you want to go?
