Mistakes. One of the few things in life that make us realize we are as normal as anyone else, that we are not always right, that what seems right today may not feel the same way tomorrow. It is one thing to make a mistake, another thing to realize you made one. What after that but? Do you accept it? Do you accept you were wrong and feel sorry or do you accept you were wrong and let go or do you accept you were wrong and do something about it?
One of the most common excuses we make to not do anything about the mistake we committed is “It’s too late”. How do you decide it’s too late? Did you actually ever think what if it wasn’t too late? Ever imagined how things could change if you just took one step? It might be scary, might give you a feeling that if things don’t work out the way you wanted you would burn down to the ground and won’t be able to get back up, these possibilities drive us away from trying. Now if you just take a moment and think what if things worked out in your favour, can you imagine the satisfaction, happiness and content you would experience then? One moment, one step, a little courage and a little faith is all you need. That is all it takes to make things right, because as long as you are alive, it is never too late to make things right.
What do we try to imply by talking about making things right? Does that mean we try to take things back to how they were or does it imply apologizing and moving forward? It is difficult to generalize what we mean when we talk about making things right. You know that pinching feeling in your stomach when you know something is wrong? Or that sinking feeling in your heart that tells you something is not right. You can deny it but you know in your heart you messed up, and you also know you need to do something about it. Atleast you try to do something about it when you know it matters to you and that is when you know you need to make things right. It is that inner voice that keeps pushing you to do something, to speak up, to apologize, to accept you made a mistake, to try and bring about a change in the current situation. So you try, you gather all the courage and you take that step and you hope for the best while you still may not know what’s the best but you go on anyways. It’s alright. As long as you did something, as long as you know you did something with all your heart, you gave it all you had, you will realize that sometimes knowing you tried is what keeps you going, knowing that you didn’t just sit back and give up, it can give you the strength you were wishing for.
You may wonder how can we be satisfied when things didn’t turn out the way we had hoped, why when you figured you made a mistake and you tried to fix it, it still didn’t really get better, what was still missing, where are you still going wrong. Here we need to realize nothing is wrong, all that you are going through is nothing but the difficulties of the path you chose and you cannot change that. You have to learn to live with it and get better at it. Like they say you win some, you lose some. But even if you lose, knowing that you tried is all you need to go to sleep. It doesn’t get easier, but what’s the rush, you have enough time to get better and you will get better…
You can do this!
